Among the top 10 countries in the GII rankings in 2012 were seven representatives from Europe, two Asian representatives and one North American representative.

Canada was removed from the table due to the creation index of both output and input was lower than the previous year. The United States still remains in the table, but the output creation index in some areas such as education and low human resources has pulled the country to the bottom of the table.

Vietnam ranks 76th and is considered to have positive creative activities along with other emerging countries like China and India.
