A local health report said two people infected with the Marburg virus were found in Kween district, near Kenya's border. Blood tests showed that both died of this virus infection. Later, a 50-year-old woman also died from this virus infection.

Medical experts are still investigating whether recent deaths have been caused by this virus. Dozens of people contacted 5 patients with the MVD infection and the risk of disease spread more widely.

In October 2012, the Marburg virus epidemic broke out in Uganda and claimed 10 lives, equivalent to half of all confirmed cases.
