Penguins face extinction

The oceans are under attack, many fisheries are on the verge of collapse and 90% of large fish are over-exploited.

Penguins, which are considered "measures of the health of the ocean" , are facing many threats as global carbon emissions are increasing, making the waters of the seas increasingly hotter and increasing the acidity. affecting coral reefs, habitat of 1/3 marine life.

Penguins are aquatic birds, they do not fly but swim across the ocean. This bird is particularly adaptable and susceptible to all underwater effects.

They are subject to pollution, as well as the consequences of overfishing, which limits food resources. In particular, climate change is a major threat to this bird.

According to the International Union for Conservation of Nature, two-thirds of the global penguins are at risk of extinction, of which eight live in Antarctica. Therefore, experts and organizations are seeking solutions to protect this rare animal.

According to the plan, experts will create two large marine conservation areas, nearly 3 million square kilometers around this frozen continent, of which one third of the area will prohibit fishing. This will help move fishing and capture krill - the main part of the penguin's food - away from the penguin area for food.

If this plan is approved by 24 member states and the European Union (EU), those protected areas will help protect the penguins, as well as other marine creatures.
