Geminids topped the meteor shower of the year by its brightness and frequency. It originates from the 3,200 Phaethon object.
This object is the core of a remnant comet, blown off by the solar wind.3,200 Phaethon in the past moved across the Earth's orbit and left a dust band.In the picture is a meteor streak recorded by Jonas Yip sitting on Lance Beach in West Sussex, England."Even though it's cold, still shooting a meteor," he said.
