Plastic memory

Researchers at the University of Tokyo are experimenting with a flexible, rewindable memory device suitable for mobile devices.

According to TechnologyReview, Japanese scientists use polymer and aluminum oxide as the main materials for producing plastic memory.

Its prototype of 676 memory cells is stacked onto a flexible plastic film, which can record and read data 1,000 times. This is a downside that researchers must continue to work on compared to the read and write capabilities of silicon flash memory (100,000 times).
