Publication of the ghost image of the International Space Station

German scientists have published an unprecedented picture of the International Space Station (ISS), the result of a confrontation between the TerraSAR-X satellite (Germany) and the ISS that took place over 2 years ago.

On March 13, 2008, when traveling in orbit at 34,540 km / h, the TerraSAR-X satellite caught and photographed ISS.

Working on the X-ray band, the images recorded by TerraSAR-X are just a collection of specks around the ISS frame, making the station 'burdensome'. Upon receiving the picture, NASA experts called it a ghost image of ISS.

According to an expert in the German Space Center (DLR), the bizarre aspect of the image is that the radar only receives reflected waves from the station body, and the solar panels absorb the transmitted signal.

Operating since 1998, ISS is the result of research collaboration among countries with advanced cosmopolitan industries. Until now, the cost of construction and maintenance of ISS has reached 100 billion USD. Previous ISS images are usually images taken in the visible wave range for the human eye.
