Two Galen Stucky and Todd Ostomel scientists and their colleagues at the University of California (USA) have successfully created a new hemostatic drug called QuikClot. The drug is produced in the form of mineral powder, colored mineral, containing silver ions.

New Scientist magazine published on March 20 said: Using QuikClot to treat bleeding wounds, bleeding results 5 times faster than existing drugs. In experiments in pigs, QuikClot guaranteed to save all animals with arterial bleeding, but if treated according to traditional methods, it can only save 50% of life.

Currently some US police and military troops in Iraq and Afghanistan have used QuikClot to cure bleeding wounds.

According to the manufacturer's data - the pharmaceutical company Z-Medica, thanks to the new hemostatic drug, has saved at least 150 American police and military personnel. In the near future, QuikClot will be widely used in hospitals and sold in pharmacies throughout the United States
