Raising pigs on padding - a way to protect the environment

Environmental pollution from pig farming is a pressing issue for the authorities and farmers. To deal with this problem, the Binh Thuan Center for Information and Technology Application and Progress has implemented a model of raising pigs on fermented padding in Duc Linh district. This model was initially interested by people because of its practical effectiveness.

Mr. Truong Van Hoa, Duc Hanh, Duc Linh, Binh Thuan, the first household to implement the model said that in the past, with a herd of about 100 pigs, his family faced many difficulties in waste treatment. Many treatment measures have been implemented but the effect is not as expected. Since the use of pig pens is fermented padding, odor is no longer available, saving water due to not having to clean the barn and significantly reducing the cleaning of pig manure. Padding from 1-2 days to reverse once to microorganisms decompose feces and urine urine .

With this method, the cost for each pig raising meat is about 400,000 VND. The first batch of pigs when applying the model makes the family very excited because handling the most important problem is waste and cleaning.

Making padding is very simple, raw materials are corn flour, sawdust, rice husk . instead of cement. Farmers just need to water the wet substrate, irrigate the yeast and sprinkle the bran mixed with probiotics, then mix well, use plastic to cover; after 2-3 days, remove the nylon sheet and rinse it, then let it be released for 1 hour.

With a barn area of about 20m2, the cost of making padding is about 3 million VND.

Padding has a shelf life of about 4 years for many pigs. After the culture period, padding becomes fertilizer for plants.

This method also helps keep pets warm because the padding is always warm by heat from the activity of probiotics.

Mr. Huynh Minh Tuan, Director of the Binh Thuan Center for Information and Technology Application and Progress, said that raising pigs on padding is an effective solution, contributing to limiting environmental pollution and saving expenses. fee for raising livestock due to taking advantage of a large amount of agricultural waste such as sawdust, rice husk, corn stalk .

This is the first time the Binh Thuan livestock sector has adopted a new method. This approach is simple, low cost but high efficiency, especially to solve the problem of environmental pollution. In the coming time, the center will support to replicate this model for many farmers in the province.
