Revealing the secret of building the Forbidden City

This discovery has given an important clue. proved that sled cars had previously helped transport stone to build royal palaces.

At the same time, ancient documents revealed that construction workers often dig 500 meters deep wells or get water from other sources to pour into lubricating roads for stone sleds to move easily. Researchers believe that pulling a 123 ton stone with a sledge can reach an average speed of 8cm / s. At the same time to pull such a heavy stone to Forbidden City requires less than 50 men, much less than 1,500 people if dragged on dry roads without water slipping.

All research results were presented by engineers Li and colleagues Haosheng Chen in the Journal of Proceedings on November 4, 2013 of the Chinese Academy of Sciences.
