JAXA and Roscosmos announced their ambition to build a moon base during the Global Space Exploration conference - an event that took place from May 22 to 24 in the US capital, Washington. Author Roscosmos insists that they do not want to repeat the achievements that humans have achieved four decades ago - bringing people to the moon.

"We are talking about establishing long-term bases on the moon," Mashable magazine quoted Vladimir Popovkin, director of Roscosmos.

The goal of JAXA in the near future is exactly the same as Roscosmos's goal.

"The moon is our next destination in space exploration , " said Yuichi Yamaura, a senior official at JAXA.

The United States was the first country to bring people to the moon, but now America's interest in Earth's natural satellites is not as big as Russia and Japan. According to the space exploration route of the US Aerospace Agency (NASA) in the next 25 years, Washington will build a base on the moon between now and 2020 or bring astronauts to the meteorite. US President Barack Obama supports the idea of bringing people to meteorites, but the White House's choice may change after the presidential election in November this year.
