Russia developed a method to create atmospheres on Mars

Russian scientists believe that the Martian polar ice could be heated to produce greenhouse gases, increase surface temperatures and living conditions on Mars.

Dr. Aleksandr Popov, a scientist at the Russian International Academy of Sciences (IAS), registered 8 patents related to Mars exploration. There are several measures to build a life-supporting atmosphere for humans on the planet, according to Sputnik.

Popov proposes to take advantage of the Martian polar region , which has dry ice (CO 2 ) and very thick ice. Every two years, the portion of CO 2 ice will melt and turn into a gas, while ice is still solid on the surface. According to Popov's solution, solar concentrators can melt this ice, turning them into steam, forming mist and clouds on Mars. The prolonged process will gradually form a thick layer of atmosphere including water vapor and carbon dioxide causing the greenhouse effect, increasing the surface temperature of the planet.

Russian scientists also introduced measures to create ozone shields for the Martian atmosphere. It is using thick iron fibers that absorb nitric acid. When dust storms occur, dust particles in the air will cause electrical charge through friction. The discharge in the atmosphere activates the reaction to break down carbon dioxide into carbon monoxide (CO) and oxygen (O 2 ). Free oxygen can react with each other through the discharge to form ozone.

Researchers believe that the conquest of Mars may take place within the next 20-30 years. Dr. Popov said he is improving the efficiency of his findings, helping them to be cheaper and more feasible.
