Russian scientists say that North America and Russia's Siberia region will form a block in the future, Sputnik said on 28 December.
A billion years ago, Siberia and North America were part of the only supercontinent with an area of more than 25 million square kilometers. However, about 600 million years ago, the geological process caused Siberia to separate from North America, forming the position of today's continents.
"Current data helps us predict the future of continents in the future. The next 250 million geological forecast shows that Siberia will once again move north of the Americas. Supercontinent Cycle will be completed, creating a new supercontinent , " explained Dmity Gladkochub, director of the Institute of Earth Shell Research at the Russian Academy of Sciences.
He said that according to geological forecasts, the Japanese archipelago will also merge with Russia in the next 30 million years.
