Russian astronomers donate the newly discovered black hole to Professor Stephen Hawking

Russian astronomers discovered a new black hole in the constellation Ophiuchus and dedicated it to a famous physicist who devoted his life to the study of the universe.

After Professor Hawking died, Russian scientists from Moscow National University observed a "gamma blast" in the constellation Ophiuchus, caused when a star exploded and formed a black hole in that position.

While these happen quite often and can be observed every day, this observation is almost impossible. Some scientists were unable to record the scene of energy release.

However, Russian scientists were more fortunate.

This extremely powerful energy explosion was captured by a robot telescope named MASTER-IAC located at Tenerife, Spain. This type of device is designed to quickly focus on a star to record the increase in brightness and to obtain information about its origin.

"MASTER has dedicated this optical discovery to Professor Stephen Hawking," Russian researchers wrote in Telegram magazine.

The discovery was registered under the name GRB180316A on March 16, 2018 , just two days after Professor Stephen Hawking died, who devoted his entire career to studying cosmic black holes and theory. about gravity. He passed away on March 14, 2018, at the age of 76, after battling the base, a debilitating neurological disease, for more than half a century.
