Saying it makes me feel more relieved
Tell someone your mood will make your sadness and anger disappear quickly.
American researchers have explained why talking to a psychologist or just a sympathetic vendor is also a relief.
They said talking about negative emotions that trigger part of the brain is responsible for controlling impulses."This brain region seems to work like a brake," said researcher Matthew Lieberman at the University of California, USA.
He and his colleagues photographed the brains of 18 women and 12 men aged 18 to 36. These people were shown face pictures showing different emotions. They are also asked to classify emotions that match the face by saying " sad " or " angry ", or assigning either male or female names, like " Sally or Harry " to the picture.
The results show that when people attach angry words to an angry face, the reaction in the amygdala region controls panic, anxiety subsides, while the impulse control area lights up.
"This is the only brain region that works more actively when you choose an emotional word for the picture than when choosing a name for it," Lieberman said.
This shows that talking does not really help you see the problem but is simply a way for the body to help you control your emotions. Women often talk more emotionally than men, but when the eyebrows are guided, they will also benefit from talking.
