Scientists predict the possibility of cataclysmic catastrophe occurrence

US and Irish researchers have predicted a catastrophic increase in world ocean water levels in the near future, based on geological measures, based on geological measurements, time may be centuries or millennia.

Corresponding research is published in Science, while the summary is due to EurekAlert! notification.

Experts point out that ocean surface temperatures during the last Eemian (Ice melting) period, nearly 116-129,000 years ago, are almost identical to the current parameters.

Meanwhile, at the same time, the sea level is 6 to 9 meters higher than its present value.

In fact, at the beginning of the Ice Age, about 129,000 years ago, the sea level was close to its level in the years 1870-1889.

Then, about 125,000 years ago, the average temperature on the surface of the sea rose about 0.5 degrees Celsius and nearly equaled the value of this parameter in the years 1995-2014.

Scientists have come to this conclusion after comparing the available data on ocean temperature and water level in the Ice Age with modern value parameters.
