Self-propelled vehicles go on many terrains
ATHLETE is a 6-foot robot vehicle developed by a group of American companies and institutes, capable of crossing quite hard, moderate or extremely soft surface terrains.
In about a decade, if everything goes according to plan, NASA will put this robot on the moon, where it performs a variety of tasks, such as carrying heavy objects across long distances on a flat floor. , turn and place that object wherever necessary.
The ATHLETE prototype now has a diameter of more than 4 meters, when stretching can be more than 6 meters. Scientists predict the final version to fly to the moon will double the current model.
The robot has 6 legs, each on a small cake and connected to a hexagonal frame. On it, people attach tools and cameras, allowing a panoramic view of the surrounding area.
Robots can carry up to 450 kg, climb steep slopes to 35 degrees on rocks and 25 degrees on soft sand.
