The launch aims to fulfill SpaceX's ambition to provide high- speed Internet around the world through a system of 12,000 satellites spanning Earth's orbit.
The launch was done in the state of Florida. The second floor of the missile will begin to split about 1 hour after the launch, reaching a height of 440km. Later, the satellites will move into low orbit at an altitude of about 550km.
This orbit is higher than the International Space Station (ISS), but lower than most current satellites. The highest level in the geostationary orbit that satellites currently operate is 36,000km.
Initially, the launch was scheduled to take place last week but had to be postponed twice due to the strong wind and the software needed to be updated. Each of these satellites weighs 227kg.
With 60 satellites launched this time, this is Falcon 9's heaviest carriage.
Starlink project will officially operate when about 800 satellites are put into orbit. Thus, SpaceX needs to conduct more than 10 more launches.
