This satellite is put into orbit on Earth at an altitude of about 36,000km. About 8 minutes after the launch, the first floor of the rocket separated and returned to Earth, safely landing on an unmanned buffer ship in the Pacific Ocean.

This is the satellite of Korea's only satellite service operator, KT SAT, and was designed to replace the version of Koreasat-5 launched in 2006.

Koreasat 5A satellite will provide live television services as well as many other communication services in Korea, Japan and Southeast Asian countries.

Unlike other Koreasat versions, Koreasat-5A will also provide maritime information about the Gulf, Indian Ocean, East Sea and East China Sea.

SpaceX has repeatedly reused the first floor of Falcon 9 missiles and is aiming to fully utilize the old missiles to reduce the cost of flying into space.
