Spider silk, human skin

A Dutch cell biologist and artist has created a synthetic silk spider silk and human skin that can reduce the radius of the rifle bullet to half.

>>> Artificial bullet-proof skin
>>> Spider silk can save people with burns

Cell biologist Abdoelwaheb El Ghalbzouri said that spider silk was three times as strong as Kevlar material for bulletproof clothing. If the jacket is made from 33 layers of Kevlar, then only 3 layers of spider silk are enough.

In addition, Abdoelwaheb El Ghalbzouri and artist Jalila Essaïdi said that integrating spider silk into burns will promote skin healing and less scarring, which is useful for burn patients.

JALILA Essaïdi says: "The mixture of spider silk and human skin is stronger and stronger than human skin. Spider silk layers combine with the skin to create larger layers of tissue.

According to Reuters , spider silk is also capable of promoting the regeneration of bones, cartilage and ligaments alongside some applications such as surgical sutures thanks to its elasticity and toughness.

Thomas Scheibel, a German chemist, is also developing a synthetic spider silk that is used to make a skin-covering cream for implants used in textiles and auto parts.

"Spider silk is not only more flexible than rubber, it's more durable than steel," Scheibel said. The biggest challenge now is the commercialization of this invention because it is difficult to achieve low cost like fiber.
