Strange fish body longer than 2m appears in Ha Tinh sea

Ha Tinh fishermen found the body of a strange fish more than 2m long, weighed about 10kg, washed up on the coast.

Mr. Nguyen Van Thanh, Chairman of Cuong Gian Commune People's Committee (Nghi Xuan District, Ha Tinh Province) confirmed with PV, the people of Dai Dong Village had just buried a large-sized strange fish washed into the local coast.

Around 5.30am, on the morning of May 8, a fisherman from Dai Dong village went to the sea to discover the body of the fish drifting ashore. Fish 2.3m long, 15-17cm wide, weigh 10kg, fish fins and tail are red, black spots on the body.

According to Chairman of Cuong Gian Commune People's Committee, this is the first time a large-sized strange fish has washed into this sea."We have not determined what kind of fish it is, many experienced seafarers believe that this is a swordfish, with the opinion that this is a pit fish or a paddle fish, " Thanh said.

Earlier, at the coast of Thanh Hoa Nghe An and Quang Binh provinces, people also buried fish with similar characteristics washed ashore. Authorities identified this as paddle fish , known as Regalecus - the world's largest bone fish , often living in deep water and dubbed the king of herring.
