Students make electric cars

Demonstrating electric car production is not just in large countries with huge industries, a group of students and a professor at Makarere University in Uganda build an electric car.

The car is called Kiira EV, with most of the parts made in Uganda. Professor Tickodri- Togboa, the project manager, said the car was fully charged for about four hours with power at home. Two-seater cars can reach speeds of up to 200km per hour and run 80km on each charge, climbing up to 55 degrees.

The car is sold for $ 10,000 to $ 15,000, which is more expensive than Uganda's, but about a quarter of the price of electric cars from the US, according to Professor Tickodri-Togboa.

The research team is also planning to produce a Uganda's Smart Car, an electric bus. Most people in Uganda use the bus, so the production of electric buses will save more oil.

There is still much work to be done with the car; it is still jerky when it comes to speeding; at present it is only possible to use some equipment such as a trumpet; But the idea that building an electric car in the study room with only 25 university students and professors is really impressive.
