A salt lake in Yuncheng City, Shanxi Province, China recently turned pink, making people very surprised and calling it "the pink desert" , Sina on January 22 reported.

Explaining this phenomenon, experts say that dry air and low temperatures in the area cause part of the lake to dry up. Magnesium sulphate , an inorganic salt, remains in the soil in combination with white salt crystals to form "pink desert".

In September last year, a corner of the ancient saltwater lake in Yuncheng suddenly turned a strange pink that many people were curious about.
