Successful application of lung washing technology

Dr. Tran Quang Luong, Deputy Director of the Center for Occupational Health (Coal and Mineral Group of Vietnam) said: The Center is the first unit to successfully apply silicosis pulmonary technology to workers. occupational disease.

In 2004, knowing that China successfully applied silicon dust washing technology, the group of young doctors of the Center came to study and bring experience to Vietnam to treat miners. The process of pulmonary washing does not need a lot of machines but mainly people (each washing has 6 people).

The doctor used a bottle of water connected to the I-shaped wire, put this physiological saline into the lungs to wash and remove it, if the amount of water does not come out once, it will be intervened by squeezing the ball. On average, each wash uses 6-12 liters of water, depending on the amount of dust in the lungs, the patient will recover 80 - 90% of health.

Over the past two years, the Center has freeed lungs for 550 patients in the coal industry and no incidents have occurred. Most recently, on July 7, 2007, the Center cleaned the lungs for free for the first out of patient. That is Pham Ngoc Hiep, a coffee milling worker in Lam Ha district (Lam Dong province), when he is in critical condition because of too much lung dust.

According to Dr. Luong: The patient's health condition has completely recovered and can be celebrated as normal people. Currently, in the coal industry alone there are 1,830 workers suffering from pneumoconiosis and many people suffer from this disease in other professions, in the future, the Center will expand the scale and objects of service to treat , prevention of diseases for workers.
