Successful production of seed crabs with industrial feed

Through many trials, the research team of Hue University of Agriculture and Forestry has successfully implemented the process of producing juvenile crabs by fully using industrial food to actively control crab farming.

The mother crabs after being caught in the natural environment are treated with violet concentration of 0.3ppm and put into a tank with a volume of 5m ³ , with a density of 2-3 individuals / m ² . In the process of broodstock feeding, let the mother eat all kinds of fresh food, such as cuttlefish, squid, and snail. Edges and snails beat shells, squid is cut into small pieces, mixed for crabs twice a day, morning from 6-7 hours, afternoon from 17-18 hours. Before feeding, the food must be washed through purple medicine (5ppm), pay attention to check and remove leftovers from the previous meal.

When the mother's crab is about to give birth, use a racket to immediately transfer the crab to the spawning tank. Egg hatching tanks can be volume from 1m ³ , for the mother to eat 1 time / day and 100% water exchange; incubation time is usually 9-15 days, depending on the ambient temperature.

The first three days after hatching, for crab larvae to eat synthetic food is Lansypost , combined with Artemia biomass 15-20 fish / liter / day. At the end of the period, supplement processed foods and supplement vitamins, calcium and feeding; Then feed the crabs with peeled shrimp meat, combine commercial feed and artemia.

To avoid crab meat eating by using green nylon fibers which have been cleaned, cut short and tied into bundles. When the crab meal reaches the age, drain the water in the tank, using a 2mm mesh-sized racket to harvest.

According to calculations, in 2013, the demand for juvenile crabs in Thua Thien-Hue province needs 3.08 million, and this demand continues to increase gradually in the following years. However, at present, there is no production farm in the province to provide fish seed for fishermen.

Breeders have long bought mainly crab seed from Nha Trang, or naturally exploited for breeding. This has affected the proactive farming season as well as the application of techniques. Moreover, due to some specific reasons for climate conditions in Thua Thien-Hue province, half of the time in the year is storm and rain, so it is not active in breeding animals and food sources.

With this success, Thua Thien-Hue province can actively supply crab seed source to farmers in the area in the next few years.
