'Super mouse' is as big as a cat because of radiation
The size of countless rats in Iran increased sharply because they exposed radioactive substances and toxic chemicals.
Some Iranian officials have confirmed that the number of mutant mice in the capital Tehran has reached the level where they cannot be statistically accurate. Many claim that the number of rats in Tehran is larger than the population of the Iranian capital. Their body size is equivalent to cats, News reported.
Ismail Kahram, a Tehran city official, said that every physical change in animals only took place after several million years. But the body size of mice in Tehran changed in just a few years because they exposed chemicals and nuclear radiation.
The city government used poison to kill them, but this measure did not seem to work.
The nuclear program has been one of the priorities of the Iranian government for years. Western countries fear Iran wants to build nuclear weapons, but Tehran insists that it only wants to develop nuclear technology for peaceful purposes - such as electricity production or cancer treatment. The Iranian government has built a number of underground nuclear facilities to prevent the risk of being attacked.
Genetic mutations are phenomena that occur frequently in the natural world. Exposure to free radioactivity and high concentrations of chemicals can cause genetic mutations in cells.
