Super telescopes detect hundreds of mysterious galaxies

A South African radio telescope has discovered hundreds of galaxies in a small corner of the universe that previously thought only 70 galaxies.

The Meerkat telescope is the strongest radio telescope in the southern hemisphere. The expected Meerkat will be fully operational by the end of this year.

Currently, there are only 16/64 Meerkat telescope recorders scanning the sky. The Meerkat operation has both a scientific goal and a huge Telescope Project (SKA) planned to be built in Australia and South Africa including dozens of signal receivers.

"Based on the results displayed today, we are confident that after all 64 discs are in operation, the Meerkat will be the world's leading telescope before the birth of SKA , " Professor Justin Jonas, Technical director of South Africa SKA, said in the report.

SKA is 10,000 times more likely to detect than the most advanced modern tools and will discover black holes, new energy sources, and possibly the origin of the universe.

Meerkat discovered 1,300 galaxies at a cosmic angle.

More than 20 countries are members of the SKA, with Australia and South Africa being the main project sites. The project is based in the UK.

Meerkat images capture more than 1,300 galaxies in the distant universe, where only about 70 galaxies have been discovered before.

Among them, there is a galaxy about 200 million light-years from Earth, where stars are formed from hydrogen gas in large numbers, and a giant black hole spews powerful, speedy electron beams. close to the speed of light.

"The beautiful images today prove that Meerkat has entered the major tournament of the world radio astronomy , " said Fernando Camilo, the chief scientist of the South African SKA project.
