Swiss glass manufacturers avoid 'accidents' for birds
The Swiss research center Sempach (SOS), Switzerland and its Glas Trosch business have researched and produced a new glass that will save lives of thousands of birds each year.
"Birdprotect" through the human eye (left) and through the eyes of birds (right).
According to statistics, every year, hundreds of thousands of bird deaths due to the impact of glass panels are mainly installed in high-rise buildings.
SOS says that this is a huge number and needs to take action to minimize this.
Inspired by SOS experts, Glas Trosch has produced and marketed special glass products called "Birdprotect".
This product minimizes reflection of the glass and helps to capture ultraviolet rays so that birds are aware of the obstacles ahead.
According to the SOS, with the use and replacement of this special glass in Switzerland, the number of bird species killed each year will fall by 90%.
