The alien signal constantly bounces off the Earth every second

Radio waves continue to be controversial for scientists, with questions surrounding their origins.

Since the first discovery in 2001, radio waves (FRB) have attracted the attention of researchers. Astronomers found dozens more FRB signals in the last few years and even made many speculations about where they originated. However, the cause of these signals is still a mystery. A group of scientists estimated the flashes fired every second across the universe, according to the International Business Times.

Most sources of FRB are detected only once due to strong flashes lasting several milliseconds. A special flash of the signal FRB 121102 has flashed 34 times since it was first recorded in 2002. Thanks to that, astronomers can determine the location of radio waves coming from a galaxy in a way we are three billion light-years away.

In the study published yesterday in the Astrophysical Journal Letters, two astronomers at the Harvard-Smithsonia Astrophysics Center (CfA) estimated FRB emitted at a fairly fast rate.'If we are right about FRB's fast speed, you can imagine the sky full of lightning like a photo hunter taking pictures of celebrities. Instead of the light we can see with the naked eye, these flashes appeared in radio waves' , said Anastasia Fialkov at CfA, the head of the research team, said.

Fialkov's research points out that FRB is not as rare as previously speculated. ' During the time you drank a cup of coffee, hundreds of FRB signals came from somewhere in the universe, ' said Avi Loeb, co-author of the study. 'If we can find out a small part of it, we will be able to discover their origin.'

' FRB is like a powerful light that can be observed over a large distance. It allows us to study the early dawn of the universe in a new way , 'Fialkov said.
