The clever monkey sharpens the stone and smashes the zoo window, surprising visitors
A video recorded the monkey picking a stone, sharpening and breaking the glass door at the zoo.
The video, taken on Aug. 20 at Zhengzhou Zoo in Henan Province, China, shows a Colombian white-faced monkey lifting a stone over its head, then pointing its tip towards a window and hitting the glass.
The monkey didn't seem to be using enough force, so it continued to repeat the action. After that, the window broke into pieces causing the monkey to panic out of the scene.
The monkey sharpened the stone and then started hitting the glass.
Visitors witnessing this scene were extremely surprised."The monkey sharpened the stone and then started hitting the glass. The monkey itself was scared to run away but then turned to look and touch it," said Wang, a tourist.
Zookeeper Zhengzhou Tian Shuliao told local media that the monkey in this video is unlike other monkeys."This monkey knows how to use tools to break walnuts. When we feed other monkeys, they only bite. But this monkey has never hit the glass before. This is for the first time " - Tian Shuliao said.
Zoo staff also added that, after the incident, the zoo picked up all the rocks and the monkey's "weapons" and intensified the inspection of the animals. In addition, the glass at the zoo is tempered glass so that the animals will not be able to escape.
