The crater lake on Mars changes shockingly

A lake that exists on the crater on Mars suddenly turns into a dry mound with no water drop.

According to new research, the cause of a lake that exists on the crater on Mars suddenly turns into a dry mound is caused by the wind on Mars . Wind is the most powerful geological force on the Red planet.

These Mars-like dry mounds were once discovered by the NASA Vinking Space Project in the 1970s, but so far, the new Rover Curiosity has conducted research and explanation of this confusing phenomenon.

The traces left to show that this dry mound is now full of giant rock sediments, with an enchanting shape that is caused by the wind on the Red planet.

Currently scientists still cannot explain why the wind on Mars can impact and transform a crater into a dry mound like this.

To test, scientists created a 30cm x16cm mini crater, bringing wet sand with water into the crater and then bringing the whole project into a wind tunnel.

The results showed that the wind has evaporated clean the water in the wet sand between the crater , the wet sand became dry sand and then the wind blew away and scattered away from the crater. And finally, wind erosion, has made certain changes in the geological layer in the mini crater.

The results of this experiment partly explain why the lake on the crater can turn into a dry mound so easily, lead author Mackenzie Day, a graduate student at the University of Texas at Austin Jackson School of Geological Sciences said in a statement.

The experiment was observed through a computer model, the results showed that moving wind waves has a certain impact on the shape of the crater erosion.

Returning to the story of dry mounds, scientists have now found 30 large and small dry mounds formed around 3.7 billion years ago right in the Noachian period (this is the period of Mars geological markings from the lips). Wet fields pass through the most dry, shallow currents).
