The dangerous 'carnivorous' parasite has returned and is more beneficial than before
Few people suspect that this "carnivorous" parasite has returned and caused "manipulation" of part of America.
Researchers in Florida have recently had a headache because of the reappearance of a carnivorous parasite - a creature that is thought to have disappeared decades ago in the United States.
It is known that this parasite again appeared, formed outbreaks and "knocked out" more than 100 individual deer, forcing the government to administer agriculture in Monroe County, Florida with an emergency alert.
According to experts, this carnivorous larvae are called Cochliomyia hominivorax also known as carnivorous gray flies .
This type of carnivorous larvae is called Cochliomyia hominivorax.
Cochliomyia hominivorax is a worm-like fly that twists like a screw (New World screw-worm fly) or worm with screws (screw-worm). This is a parasitic fly , in which its larvae (maggots) feed on living tissue of warm-blooded animals.
The larvae of this species are famous for eating and infecting meat feces of living organisms, especially warm-blooded animals like livestock or other pets. These larvae can cause larvae (myiasis) or larvae on wounds and lesions that animals can infect.
This is a parasitic fly.
This process will be a favorable condition for the disease in the host. Hominivorax flies tend to reproduce only in areas of the flesh of living animals.
Unlike other maggots , maggot hominivorax larvae will attack and digest healthy living tissue along with rotting tissue.
According to experts, the parasite has not been found in Florida during the last 50 years - that is the goal of a long-term parasite eradication campaign, which began in the 1930s and succeeded in 1966.
But for no reason, they reappear. Kristie Killam told The New York Times: "We are not aware of what happened. It attacked deer individuals and gradually spread to other species."
However, it should be noted that this parasite is also capable of infecting humans.
One of the cases was a 12-year-old girl who traveled with her family to Colombia. After returning, she complained that she had pain in her scalp.
Scientists must use "smoking therapy" - sucking out parasites.
The doctor eventually removed 142 larva screwworm from her head. They had to use "smoking therapy" - sucking out parasites.
According to experts, although not directly laying eggs on the host, this species will adopt an intermediate host like mosquitoes, mites to reach the prey. They will spread buffalo eggs to warm-blooded animals, including humans. Nine hours of temperature change between the two hosts will make the eggs hatch, entering the body through a bite or a burner.
The larvae will be under the human skin, inside a layer of skin under the tissue, eat body fluids for about 8 weeks before leaving to turn into adult flies. When in the body, larvae cause a condition called " furuncle myiasis" (furuncular myiasis). The area of the larvae will be swollen, inflamed and pus-filled.
