The end of the two-tone dress that divided social networks
The real-life image of the dress has officially ended the nearly decade-long debate over whether it was "white gold" or "dark blue."
Nine years ago, a dress took the internet by storm when Cecilia Bleasdale posted a photo of it on her personal blog before her daughter's wedding.

The photo with its dim blue light created a strange visual effect, causing viewers to debate fiercely about the real color of the dress: "white gold" or "black blue"?
The debate was so heated that scientists had to intervene to explain the cause.
In fact, this dress is dark blue and is produced by the brand Roman Originals (UK).
Recently, this "legendary" dress " caused a stir" when Amanda Rubinstein found it at a thrift store in Vermont (USA). She shared this interesting discovery on TikTok and immediately attracted the attention of the online community, according to Newsweek .

"I screamed in shock when I saw it," said Amanda Rubinstein, who decided to buy the dress for just $5.
"I wasn't sure if it would fit, but I knew the opportunity to own such an iconic dress was rare," Rubinstein said. The seller reportedly had the dress in his possession since 2015 and knew its "legendary" value.
While Rubinstein isn't sure if the dress she bought is the exact one in the 2015 photo, she said the item was from the same collection, so the chances of a match are high.
Rubinstein soon shared his discovery on TikTok, where the video quickly racked up more than 4 million views. In the comments, people were amazed by the discovery. And of course, the debate over the color of the dress erupted once again.
"This is definitely the most legendary find ever at a flea market," one viewer commented. Another humorously suggested she repost the video but change the colors so the dress looked white and gold.
And the most interesting question: What color dress did Rubinstein see?
"The dress is 100% blue with black mesh and lace details," she confirmed.

Although scientists have been investigating and concluding the true color of the dress since 2015, for many who have never seen it with their own eyes, the debate has been simmering for nearly a decade.
According to Professor Cedar Riener, a psychologist at Randolph-Macon College (USA), each person receives a different amount of light, leading to differences in color perception. People who are sensitive to blue light will see the dress as dark blue, while those who are less sensitive will see it as white-yellow.
Professor Andrew Stockman from University College London (UK) illustrated this phenomenon with an interesting model. He used a green background with bars that changed color from yellow to brown. At a glance, you will easily notice the color change. However, if you focus on one point for 10 seconds, you will see all the bars around it change to the same color.
Explaining this, Professor Andrew said that the human visual system tends to "predict" colors. When looking at a colored area for a long time, the brain will automatically "assign" that color to the surrounding areas . This is the reason why the photo of the dress with blue and black stripes tricks our vision.
