The first fish robot in Vietnam

The first fish robot in Vietnam has been checked and accepted at Ho Chi Minh City Department of Science and Technology on December 16. This fish is remote controlled, can swim like real fish.

This topic was carried out by a research group which is students at the University of Technical Education HCMC. To date, members of the research team have graduated and worked in many different units.

Swim, dive like real fish

The fish robot is about 35 cm x 70 cm x 110 cm, weighs 600 g, is remotely controlled by radio waves. It can swim in the pool (clear and static water environment) similar to real fish, with a swimming speed of about 0.6 m per second, at a maximum depth of about 2 m, while performing swimming movements Go up, dive, move smoothly.

Explaining the use of radio waves, the research team said that although this type of wave is very limited when transmitted in water environment, this is a common type of wave, suitable for initial research conditions, reducing source of funding.

However, fish robots still have some disadvantages such as: the joints are not optimal, limiting the ability to swim smoothly, swim up and swim quickly. The ability to swim down to the depth is limited because radio waves are not enough to meet. When fish swim down, the camera cannot transmit the signal.

Nguyen Trong Hieu, a member of the research team, said the group will continue to study and upgrade from ordinary fish robots to smart fish robots. This advanced step will produce faster, more functional fish robot products. After completing the intelligent fish robot research, the team will invite cooperation in mass production investment to market.

Many applications in the future

According to Associate Professor Dr. Le Hoai Quoc, Deputy Director of Ho Chi Minh City Department of Science and Technology, fish robots have both meaning about scientific research and practical application. And Dr. Huynh Van Kiem, Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology, said that it is very suitable for entertainment technology in Vietnam.

Project leader, Mr. Pham Tien Trung, said: 'Fish robots have been researched by many universities, institutes and scientific centers in the world. The ability to apply this research into practice as well as the field of national security is huge. '

The team believes that fish robots can search for fish-rich areas, help fishermen to catch more efficiently or help explorers easily access the fish without fear of being detected. It will also help support the teaching of relevant specializations such as hydrodynamics, swimming techniques instruction .
