The Great Pyramid of Giza has a large error in construction

Scientists discovered that the Giza pyramid in Egypt was deflected to one side, with the western side longer than the eastern flank.

According to the International Business Times, scientists have tried to figure out the exact size of the pyramid, but this is the first time they have found the base brackets do not form a perfect square.

As the oldest and only ancient wonder in its entirety, the Great Pyramid of Giza is the symbol of the technical achievements of mankind from 4,500 years ago. The work was completed in 2,560 BC, during the reign of pharaoh Khufu of the Fourth Dynasty.

The shape of the pyramid changed slightly during the past centuries. At first, the construction was covered with 84,984m 2 of white stone but most of the stone was unloaded after many years and reused in other construction projects. This makes it even more difficult for scientists to find the exact size of the pyramid.

A group of scientists at the Glen Dash Research Foundation and the Ancient Egyptian Research Association (AERA) have been working on a project to map and excavate the Giza plateau in the past three decades. In order to determine the length of the pyramid edges, they consider the cladding stone layer remaining at the foot of the building.

They also observed footwork traces like cutting lines to find the edges at the beginning. Mark Lehner, one of the study's main authors, discovered 84 points along the 155m circumference of the pyramid. Based on the method of mapping leftover traces and clad stones, the team was able to find the original length of the pyramid base.

The study results indicate that the eastern side of the pyramid is about 230,295-230,373m, while the western flank is 230,378-230,436m. Thus, the western side is slightly longer than the east side. Scientists are not sure how the ancient Egyptians built the Great Pyramid of Giza, so they could not speculate on where the construction error originated.
