The hidden room in the Great Pyramid may contain the pharaoh's throne

An archaeologist suspected of containing the iron throne made from meteorite falling to Earth.

The medium-sized container deep inside the Great Pyramid of Giza west of the Nile could contain a meteorite-made iron throne, the Long Room reported on January 11. Archaeologists believe the throne is a tool to help the pharaoh on his way to the afterlife.

Researchers from Scan Pyramids project by Mehdi Tayoubi in Institute Hipp, Paris, France and Kunihiro Morishima at Nagoya University, Japan, discovered a large empty room in early November 2017. However, they still wonder about the function of this area.

The 30m-long room can accommodate planes discovered in the Great Giza Pyramid in Egypt.

Giulio Magli, head of the Mathematics Department and professor of classical literature at Milan Polytechnic University, Italy, said he knew the answer."There is a feasible explanation, consistent with what we know about the burial ritual mentioned in the papyrus roll. In these documents, before going to the stars in the north, the pharaoh will have to go. through the heavenly gates and sitting on the iron throne , " Magli said.

built around 2550 BC under the pharaoh Khufu dynasty, is one of the largest and most complex tombs in architectural history. The inner rooms can only enter through narrow tunnels.Great hallway (Great Gallery) , a tunnel of them expanded gradually and suddenly slid up high before leading to the grave.

"The new room discovered above Great Gallery, but without the practical function of relieving pressure, because the Great Gallery's ceiling was built with protruding construction techniques for this purpose" , Magli to speak.

According to Magli, through observing the throne of Queen Hetepheres, Pharaoh Khufu's mother, a piece that had broken into pieces and was rebuilt by Harvard University, we can imagine the shape of his throne. Queen Hetepheres' throne is a low cedar wooden chair covered with gold and porcelain leaves. Pharaoh Khufu's throne may be similar, only in a thin iron foil.

"Of course it is not molten iron, but iron is descended from a heavenly meteorite, called an iron meteorite , " the team said. The Egyptians used meteorite iron to create special pharaoh-specific objects, including children.

Experts confirmed the existence of two mysterious empty rooms last year after sweeping a tomb with X-ray equipment. At 146m in height, the Great Pyramid of Giza or Khufu Pyramid is named after Khufu, the son of pharaoh Snefru. The three-tomb building has been known to the researchers.

"We can now confirm the existence of an empty room behind the north face, most likely in the form of a corridor leading into the Great Pyramid," the project team said.

Another smaller room was discovered on the northeast side of the pyramid, using X-ray and 3D reconstruction. According to Mehdi Tayoubi, the founder of the Institute for Conservation of Heritage in Paris said it was impossible to determine the relationship between the two vacant rooms.
