The lake covered the desert 650,000km2 after a tropical storm

One of the largest and driest desert on Earth completely changed after the tropical storm Mekunu overflowed.

Rub 'al-Khali , the world's largest unbroken sandy desert on the Arabian Peninsula, turned into an oasis with countless lakes after the tropical storm Mekunu hit the area last month, a rare phenomenon never before happened in the last 20 years, according to IFL Science. The strongest hurricane Mekunu on May 25, caused Salalah, the city in Oman, to receive up to 27.8cm of rain after only 24 hours. Water remains in an unusual way due to the distribution of desert dunes. Desert winds create many grooves, forming numerous sand dunes.

All satellite images use the wrong color to make it easier to distinguish different characteristics, as well as different types of rocks. However, the effect was impressive when viewed from the low Earth's orbit.

The flood will help the area."The land will need 30 days for summer grass to sprout. People will have enough camel food in the next two years , " said Ali Al-Hatish, who often travels through the desert.
