Scientists in Switzerland create a salamander-like robot, with the ability to swim, crawl, and walk.

A team of experts from the Polytechnic University of Lausanne in Switzerland has created a salamander-like "amphibious" robot . Salamandra Robotica II , the name of the robot, is made up of a chain of connected motors. It has four "legs" protruding from the sides, Popular Science reported.

The legs of most mammals are located below the body, but the legs of reptiles and amphibians often protrude from either side of the body so that the center of their body is close to the ground.

Salamanders also move and move like salamanders, especially in watery environments. It bends the body to move up in water, identical to the movement of lizards and other amphibians. On land, it bends the body to crawl and uses 4 legs to step.

Robotic crawlers like Salamandra can be useful tools in scientific research, exploration, rescue, or intelligence gathering.
