ALMA Observatory is the most ambitious radio observatory on Earth. Unlike optical telescopes, radio telescopes at ALMA are designed to capture radio waves emitted by sources in space. This is a segment of the electromagnetic spectrum that allows researchers to have a clearer view of the universe. ALMA has 66 antennas, of which 50 are 12 meters in diameter and 12 are 7 meters in diameter.

ALMA is open every Saturday and Sunday if you visit a facility in northern Chile. You can also go to the ALMA Activity Support Facility (OSF), where ALMA employees work to observe control rooms, laboratories and antenna parts.
