The mysterious creature behind the cocoon is beautiful

A team has discovered a cocoon with a strange shape that has never been seen before, opening up hope for the emergence of a new species of creature.

The first image of strange cocoons was discovered by Troy Alexander, a graduate student at Georgia Technical School (USA), on June 7.

The cocoon is about 2cm wide with a pyramid-shaped structure

The cocoon is about 2cm wide with a pyramid-shaped structure surrounded by white fibers under a blue tarp near the Tambopata research center in Peruvian Amazon (located in southeastern Peru).

At first he thought this was just a normal broken butterfly cocoon, but then met a few other cocoon clusters.

Scientists do not know what kind of creature will hatch

Troy then sought the help of Peruvian Peruvian scientists and research centers, but no one knew what kind of creature the cocoon would hatch.

William Eberhard - an entomologist working at the Smithsonian Tropical Research Center - said he did not know what it was made of and what it would hatch.

Norm Platnick - Spider's curator at the Natural History Museum added, "I have seen photographs, but there is no idea what kind of creature can produce that kind of cocoon."

Cocoon of Urodidae

Others argue that it could be a defective cocoon of a moth of the Bucculatricidae moth, or of the Urodidae butterfly - famous for creating such cocoons.
