Mysterious purple spherical creature in the Pacific

Scientists discovered a mysterious purple creature like a small ball at a depth of more than 1,600 meters below the Pacific Ocean.

According to Live Science, scientists at the US National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) on Nautilus discovered a small purple sphere underneath a rock in Arguello alley, off the California coast, America, July 18.

The research team believes that this could be a new gastropods (snail-like molluscs of Gastropoda class). It is about 5cm in size.

"Of the known species in California, no species is purple," said Susan Poulton, spokesman for Nautilus.

The video, taken by the remote-controlled submarine Hercules, shows that the purple sphere suddenly appears when scientists are concentrating on observing shellfish and crabs in the ocean floor at a depth of 1,616m.

The team collected the organism with a vacuum, then sent it to Harvard's Zoological Comparison Museum, USA, to conduct DNA and DNA analysis."We will take months to determine this is a new species," Poulton said.
