The nano generator generates electricity

If you are tired of watching the charger for cell phones, digital music players or other electronic devices, the nanogenerator, by GS Zhong Lin Wang at the Georgia Institute of Technology ( USA) and colleagues, can help you.

This nanogenerator model is made of tiny nanofibres (made from safe and non-toxic zinc oxide), which can produce continuous currents when bent or stretched by collection or re-generation. Mechanical energy from the surrounding environment, operating on the principle of converting energy from the movement and elastic of the body into a more flexible power source than conventional technology such as conventional batteries.

In addition, it can produce energy from ultrasound, mechanical movement or even from the blood flowing in the body . When moved by mechanical energy, these nanofibres bend and come in contact with the metal plate that generates electricity.

Professor Zhong Lin Wang and teacher colleagues that nanowires can generate about 4 watts of power per cm 2 surface. In case the device is mounted in the shoe, in each foot step, we can also produce the rechargeable power for small electronics.

Mr. Wang said: The first application for this technology will be used in the military. The nano-generators will not need to carry a battery to recharge the electronic equipment at the time of the operation.
