The oldest dam discovered 10,000 years ago

On an expedition to the Krasnodar region, southern Russia, the Russian Geography Society's geologists found the world's oldest dam, estimated to be more than 10,000 years old, while the oldest dams The Nile was discovered to date only 4,500 years old.

The ancient dam was discovered by chance when the expedition found the clay mounds that had the function of blocking water from the cave walls, they suspected this was a dam built during the Neolithic period.

Expert Vyacheslav Isayev of the Russian Geographic Society, said the analysis of clay samples at the Geological Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences confirmed the scientists' hypothesis.

This is a man-made mound and is the only irrigation project in the whole region, dating back to over 10,000 years.

The cave where the ancient dam was found has been renamed Dam to commemorate this precious discovery.

The 10,000-year-old ancient dam is not the first archaeological discovery in the Krasnodar region. More than 30 years ago, in the early 1980s, scientists found ceramic products in Dam, which were crafted before the potter's turntable appeared.

Based on these archaeological findings scientists tilted the assumption at the end of the Stone Age that humans chose this place as a hunting ground. They found water in the cave and built a dam to store water and get water more easily.
