We often attach ourselves to the ability of lactating lactating milk to mammals. But mammals are not the only class that can secrete nutrients for young children.

Some animals outside the mammalian kingdom also have similar abilities. Flamingos are one of them, along with doves and emperor penguins.

Fat-rich liquid and protein are secreted from a special gland lining on the entire upper part of the digestive tract. The secretion of kite milk is produced by prolactin, a protein that stimulates milk production in mammals. In flamingos, both females and males produce them.
