The river has two colors of water mixed in Brazil

The Negro and Amazon rivers merge in the 6km section, their water color does not mix with each other but creates two separate black-brown patches.

About 10km from Manaus to the west of Brazil is the Negro River (Black River). This river flows along the city and joins the Amazon River. Although these two rivers flow smoothly for 6 km, the colors of these two rivers do not mix.

Instead, the black color of the Negro River and the golden brown of the Amazon River still flow parallel to each other, dividing the water surface into two colors. The Brazilian called this phenomenon Encontro das Aguas (meeting of the two streams).

The confluence phenomenon does not happen in many rivers in the world, but nowhere is as impressive as here, according to Amusing Planet.

The Negro River is the largest branch of the Amazon River, and is the river with the largest black water in the world. According to scientists, the color of the river is caused by water with high acidity and less sediment. The water of the Amazon River is muddy, sand should be golden brown.

Also due to different domestic ingredients, these two rivers "resolutely" do not tolerate the flow. Some other reasons are that they differ in flow rate and water temperature. The Negro has a flow of 2km / h, a water temperature of 28 degrees C. The Amazon River has a faster flow velocity, 5km / h but a cooler temperature, about 22 degrees C.

At 6 km downstream, the whirlpools in the Amazon River eventually mingle the two rivers as they merge and become the Lower Amazon River.

Thanks to this unique natural phenomenon, this place has become a popular attraction in Manaus. Dozens of travel companies in Manaus receive boat trips to the places where the two rivers meet. The best time to travel is between January and July, when the rivers are full of water.
