Ms. Nguyen Thi Tram, one of the many vegetable growing households along the river in Kim Tan ward, Lao Cai city, said that from March 15, the Red River flowed through Lao Cai city and continued to run out of dark gray water. with chisel foam floating on the water and a strong stench.

Longer observation from the Duyen Hai ward (Lao Cai city) to Son Ha and Son Hai communes (Bao Thang) along the rocky banks of debris deposited into a black mud layer about 0.5-1cm thick, odor rotten and fishy.

Workers working on river embankment works at the foot of Coc Leu bridge (Lao Cai city) often present at the river bank confirmed that the Red River appeared cloudy about two weeks ago, but not very typical. because anyone noticed carefully discovered.

However, these two days, when the water is shallow, many parts of the river begin to get dirty, the shore is covered with a thick layer of black mud, the most bad smell is in the early morning and late afternoon.

A Mú Sung area is about 60km away from Lao Cai city. The phenomenon of turbidity and unpleasant odor is even more serious. According to authorities, low shallow water may be due to the source of water for irrigation and hydropower. The stench may be due to the effects of waste from agricultural processing factories upstream. However, to determine the basis, it is necessary to have competent authorities verify, especially water quality inspection.
