The rotating house uses the power of storms to settle on the ground

The houses of the future are capable and able to withstand the weight of the wind. Architect Margot Krasojevic has created houses revolving around a wall . The stronger the storm, the more the house anchors to the ground.

The main living spaces of the Self-Excavation House Hurricane House are housed in a prefabricated reinforced concrete frame. This lightweight structure has a series of rubber-coated walls, providing flexibility to adapt while the house rotates.

As noted, the storms that rotate around the eye are always in the counterclockwise direction in the northern hemisphere and clockwise in the southern hemisphere. The project of building a rotating house aims to use the power of the storm to create the rotation of the house, using the wind direction to create the impact force on the hydraulic axis of the house. Thanks to this impact, the house will be tighter to the ground.

The house is built on an artificial island near the coast of Louisiana, USA with a design that can self-purify flood water from the main living area. The surrounding topsoil is capable of leading water to deeper soil that functions as a biosphere. Wetlands will absorb and temporarily store water due to the flood then release slowly to the surrounding environment. This is a function of land reclamation and water purification in this project.
