The A380 was hit by lightning.

Photographer Chris Dawson accidentally recorded a video of lightning hitting the plane while recording clouds near Heathrow airport. The video shows that the A380 was struck twice by lightning while preparing to land at Heathrow.

Dawson filmed this video from last month but it just appeared on the internet recently.

'I see clouds accumulating and I guess there will be lightning in this condition,' Dawson said. And reality happens exactly as Dawson predicted.

The plane landed safely with 500 passengers on board without any problems. David Learmount, from Flightglobal's safe-web site , said the lightning strike was common for airlines.

' Aircraft are struck by lightning several times each year. They are like a lightning rod. The shooting of a lightning strike like this might be as impressive as the lightning could not affect . The fuselage must contain metal so it could become a lightning rod, allowing electricity to pass through. Without metal, the aircraft could explode when struck by lightning , 'Learmount said.
