The secret of those 'short-lived'
Why do so many people own only modest height, while others have superior height? Why are many cases of high parents and births of children of extremely modest height?
In order to find the mystery of the 'short-lived' people , a recent study in the United States found that it is the lack of certain genes that cause many people to suffer from heightened discontent.
The "missing" genes in the "copying" process greatly affect height.
Dr. Joel Hirschhorn shared on Medical Xpress that his team studied 12,000 Americans and found that there was a link between the disappearance of some genes with limited height.
In the past, scientists had known that genes that determine height were passed from one life to another, but researchers have yet to explain why there are high parental cases but low births, or there is a difference in height between one person and the other.
"Our current understanding only explains about 10% of the height diversity in adults ," Dr. Hirschhorn said. Now, with finding a link between some missing genes with height restrictions , researchers believe they have found the key to the problem.
Using computers, his team scanned and read DNA sequences of the study subjects. They found that in normal humans, DNA sequences that determine height are accurately copied from parents to children. However, for those with modest height, a gene segment has disappeared during the process of 'copying'.
'The more missing the number of genes, the more heightened the height is , ' explains Dr. Hirschhorn.
