The third nose is Mars on Mars

US space agency (NASA) said the Mo Mo robot has just made the third official drill on a block of sandstone in Mars.

Later, To Mo will collect samples of rock powder in the official bore with a diameter of several cm, located next to the test bore on the same sandstone slab. Scientists hope that this specimen will bring certain insights into the geochemical process and the formation of the landscape at the bottom of the Gale Crater area on Mars.

The third drill is carried out on a sandstone block called 'Windjana' . Previously, To Mo had carried out the preparation stages, including: checking and cleaning about 6cm thick dust layer on sandstone surface and implementing small drill bit to ensure success for Official drill.

NASA said it had been nearly a year since the Mo Mo robot made the second drill on a rock in the Yellowknife Bay area, about 4km east of its current location.

Scientist John Grotzinger of the To Mo project said: "We are also looking for information on chemical properties as well as fluid flow, which binds sediment blocks together to form blocks of stone. at the volcanic shelf area ".

He stressed: 'If you find the necessary minerals, determine their chemical properties, it helps us better understand the composition as well as the history of forming groundwater in the area. The synonym of the potential habitat of microorganisms in the distant past on Mars will be revealed. '
