The truth about 'light at the end of the tunnel'

Scientists claim that the 'light at the end of the tunnel' is often described by people from the dead returning to essentially just a product of imagination, not a supernatural phenomenon.

In a sleep-related experiment at the Los Angeles Inclusive Experimental Research Center, four groups of 10 to 20 volunteers were instructed to perform a series of mental exercises to help them experience their escape, creating conditions for a dream to appear at the end of the tunnel.

18 of the volunteers said they could dream of seeing it as if they had gone through it. They thought that they had seen that light without realizing that they were still sleeping with a 'deadly' sleep, explained Michael Raduga. More than 8 million Americans claim to experience near-death experience (NDE), which often occurs during anesthesia sleep.

'Light at the end of the tunnel' is actually just a product of imagination.

Earlier, research by neuroscientists led by Kevin Nelson from the University of Kentucky, showed that NDEs appear because the mechanisms of the brain work like when causing lucid dreams (people lie dream realize that they are dreaming.

Both types of experiences arise when the part of the brain called the "posterior cortex" acts during REM (the stage of dreams), allowing dreams to become extremely vivid, as if happening in real life.

Raduga's experiments prove that NDEs, which are still considered a supernatural phenomenon, are actually just lucid dreams.

One of the successful volunteers in creating the NDE described his experience for the team as follows: 'I can get rid of my body after a little effort. Next, I searched the tunnel and it immediately appeared in front of me . Then I flew to the end of that tunnel . I suddenly saw my late husband's soul. We talked for a few minutes. Then, when I felt the time was running out, I returned to the tunnel, jumped up and gently landed on my body. '
